PHDA Accomplishments
for 2010

During the last visit toArgentina,
directors of the Foundation “Proyecto Herencia de Amor” (PHDA),
gave a boost to construction of the facilities, at the five-acre
plot donated by the Segovia Family. They also invited Santa
Claus to the event “Christmas at The “Barrio”.
Throughout the year 2010, actions
were taken and investments were made to maintain the grounds
the foundation owns in Mercedes, Buenos Aires. A gate,
large enough to allow access to heavy vehicles into the grounds,
was installed at the entrance. Also, a
6.5 horse-power lawn mower was purchased to keep the grounds free
of weeds.
With the arrival of the directors of
PHDA, Esther Segovia and Luis Solivan, and the project’s architect,
Mr. Oscar Sananes, construction of the school, cafeteria, and
sport center, which had been under construction for a few years,
was resumed.
The first step was the installation of a roof structure for the
housing of the landlords. The workers began the foundation of the
house and will continue with the walls and final touches in the
next few months, under the directions of Architect Sananes and
supervision by the local administrators, María de Los Ángeles Lértora
y Alberto Pucheta
Within the enclosure of the cafeteria, a section was secured for
safe keeping of construction materials that were purchased, enough
to finish what is under way at thispoint.
Regarding the general design of the
site, a surveyor performed an assessment of the land. A
design for a park and a grove to compliment the property will
be ready soon.
Interview With the Executive
Director of the Project:

–“Esther, we know this is a very ambitious
project. What
are the plans for this year that is just beginning?”

–“In two or three months we have
to finish the house for the landlords, and by December, we have to
build at least one classroom, the bathrooms, and of course. the
kitchen.”

–“When do you plan to have kindergarten ready?”

–“I have given instructions to initiate paperwork with the proper
authorities so that we can begin by March of 2012.”
– “What do you need to achieve this goal?”

–“All the support we can get is welcomed no matter how small;
we need our friends, members, and sponsors to continue supporting
us more than ever.”
Annual Events in Mercedes, Bs. As.

Children’s
Day With Super Heroes

This past August, for the second
year in a row,Children’s Day
was celebrated with the participation of super heroes and other
TV characters that walked the streets of Mercedes greeting the
children and announcing the beginning of the festivities.
For 21/2 hours, there was
music, dance groups, and a presentation by the popular clown, Pelambre, “Llevando
por todo el mundo una revolución de felicidad” (Bringing a Revolution
of Happiness to all The World). Also, noteworthy is the collaboration of
other local institutions that joined the events, like the organization
“El Negro Olmedo”, a local theater group who participated with
its actors. Its director, Dr. Rodolfo príncipi, who also
donated an emergency kit for PHDA, represented Blas Dubarry Hospital. As
always, the traditional snacks and gifts for those present were
the grand finale for an afternoon where children celebrated their
day.
Santa Claus arrives from Los Angeles

On December 26, also for the
second
year in a row, the event “Christmas at The Barrio” took place. Atop a typical carriage, Santa
Claus made his way through the “barrio”, inviting children to the
celebration, accompanied by the traditional musical group, El Bagual. Close
to 300 children made their way to the festivities where they enjoyed
music, mime, and a live nativity scene represented by teens and
children from the church “Asociación Cristiana Internacional”. After
the snack, Santa Claus and members from the project made sure that
all the children received their gifts. This way we culminated
a day filled with beautiful experiences exceeding all expectations,
specifying once more the task for which we work so hard during
the year.
